Battery Notice

Information on battery disposal

In connection with the sale of batteries or the delivery of devices containing batteries, we are required to inform you of the following:

Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste.

You can return waste batteries that we stock or have stocked as new batteries in our range either at your own expense to us or free of charge to our dispatch warehouse (dispatch address). Alternatively, you can hand in the batteries at local collection points.

As an end user, you are legally required to return used batteries so that they can be reprocessed or disposed of professionally.

Waste batteries may contain harmful substances that could damage the environment or your health if stored or disposed of improperly. However, batteries also contain important raw materials, such as iron, zinc, manganese, or nickel, and can be recycled.

The symbols shown on the batteries have the following meaning:

The symbol of the crossed-out wheeled bin means that the battery must not be disposed of with household waste.

For batteries containing a certain mass of lead, cadmium, or mercury, the following abbreviations below the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol indicate the respective harmful substances:

Pb = Battery contains more than 0.004 percent lead by mass
Cd = Battery contains more than 0.002 percent cadmium by mass
Hg = Battery contains more than 0.0005 percent mercury by mass

Information on the costs included in accordance with Article 56 (4) of the EU Battery Regulation (Regulation 2023/1542) can be found at the "Batterie-Zurück" initiative (https://www.batterie-zurueck.de/de/bewirtschaftungvonaltbatterien/).
Special features for the sale of starter batteries

In connection with the sale of starter batteries, if you are an end user, we are required under Section 19 of the German Battery Act (BattDG) to charge a deposit of 7.50 euros, including VAT, per starter battery if you do not return a used starter battery at the time of purchasing a new one. The deposit is not included in the purchase price and is shown separately from the final price of the item.

If you return a used starter battery to us that we stock or have stocked as a new battery in accordance with Section 18 BattDG, we are obliged under the legal regulations to take it back free of charge and refund the deposit amount.

Where we have issued a deposit token in accordance with Section 19 (1) sentence 3 BattDG, the refund of the deposit upon return of the used starter battery is dependent on the return of the deposit token.

The place of return is the address listed in the legal notice.

Returning a used starter battery by mail is not permitted due to the regulations governing dangerous goods.

Used starter batteries can alternatively be handed in free of charge at recycling centers. The deposit we charge is not refunded by public recycling centers. However, you have the option there to have the return of the used starter battery acknowledged on the deposit token. Upon presentation of the acknowledged deposit token, you will receive the battery deposit back from us. If no deposit token was issued, a proof of return from the authorized collection point is sufficient. In this case, the proof must not be older than two weeks at the time of presentation.

Please note the information above.
